Nelvana Enterprises is preparing the next in its series of YTV-branded DVD releases, following its rollout last week of a Being Ian disc.
The 2D toon by Vancouver’s Studio B Productions made its silver disc debut at rental and retail outlets across Canada on March 6. Billed as a movie — it is in fact two back-to-back episodes totaling 44 minutes — the release is the first to bear the ‘YTV Presents’ label, which is being handled by Nelvana. Both the Toronto cartoon house and the kiddie cable channel are owned by Corus Entertainment.
Other YTV titles are due on shelves later this year, according to a Corus spokesperson. A second Being Ian disc (5 O’Clock Snooze) is set for June 6, followed by Yvon of the Yukon on June 26 and Mystery Hunters on July 17. All three series air on YTV.
‘As we continue to drive DVD sales in Canada by leveraging our television assets, we anticipate strong retail performance for this popular show,’ said Nelvana VP Peter Maule in a statement, following the Being Ian release. Ian also airs on VRAK and other outlets worldwide.
