Marvel Studios is bringing the Hulk to Toronto, and has confirmed plans to shoot a second smash-em-up starring the Green Goliath this summer in the Ontario capital, creating roughly 400 jobs and injecting some much-needed muscle into the local industry.
Marvel, the Ontario Media Development Corporation and the Film and Television Office of the City of Toronto confirmed the shoot Monday morning.
‘This timely decision reinforces Toronto’s status as the national center of excellence and will serve as a strong kick-off to our 2007 production year,’ said Mayor David Miller in a statement.
‘This is a testimonial to the world-class locations, crews and production facilities that Toronto and Ontario have to offer,’ added OMDC acting CEO Kristine Murphy.
The Incredible Hulk, sequel to 2003’s Hulk, will be directed by Louis Leterrier (Transporter 1 and 2) and produced by Avi Arad and Kevin Feige — both of the Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises — and Gale Anne Hurd (Terminators 1, 2 and 3). The cast has not been confirmed.
