Development deal for The Dot

The Dot Film Company is moving forward on its second feature, having secured development funds from Telefilm Canada for the comedy The Ornithology of Ron Spencer.

The picture, by Theodore Bezaire and Mike Stasko of the Toronto shop, follows their 2006 slacker comedy Things to Do, which played at Slamdance last year and in a handful of U.S. theaters last month. Ornithology is about a high school teacher who, in an effort to win the respect of his daughter, plots against a rival bird watcher.

‘Telefilm Canada has made a great decision in providing Theodore and Mike the chance to showcase their talent, they deserve this opportunity,’ said The Dot CEO Gerry Lattmann in a release.
