A new award named for Lindalee Tracey will be presented at this year’s Hot Docs documentary festival, honoring both the late director/writer and the work of an emerging filmmaker who works ‘in the spirit of Lindalee — with passion, humor, a strong sense of social justice and a personal point of view.’
Organizers of the Toronto festival, together with Tracey’s colleagues and loved ones, unveiled the prize on Wednesday, roughly three months after she lost a lengthy battle with breast cancer at age 49. Her work includes the docs Bhopal: The Search for Justice and The Anatomy of Burlesque.
Submissions for The Lindalee Tracey Award are open to Canadian film- or TV-makers working in any genre, and may include projects that are complete or still in progress. The deadline for submissions is Feb 28. See www.magnoliamovies.com for full details.
The award will be presented on April 27 during the festival.
