Rookie filmmakers have four weeks to take a shot at On the Lot, the new reality series by exec producers Steven Spielberg and Survivor boss Mark Burnett set to air this spring and summer on CTV.
The show, in which 16 directors will compete for a seven-figure development deal at DreamWorks, is accepting applications from U.S. and Canadian filmmakers until Feb. 16, after which producers will hold invitation-only casting calls.
Applicants aged 13 or older must submit a 30- to 45-second introductory video and short film no more than five minutes long. Full details are online at: www.onthelot.com.
‘Canadians have a great track record of competing with the best from around the world, both on reality TV and otherwise,’ said Burnett in a statement. ‘We look forward to seeing what Canada has to offer.’
Casting will take place in March in Toronto. Applicants from Western Canada will be sent to Seattle.
CTV is the first foreign broadcaster to pick up the Fox series, and announced the deal from the floor of the NATPE trade show in Las Vegas.
‘On the Lot delivers an innovative concept backed by an exceptional pedigree and as a result CTV is thrilled to bring this project to Canadians,’ said CTV president of programming Susanne Boyce in a statement.
The host and judges for the series have not yet been named. The show is produced by Mark Burnett Productions, DreamWorks Television and Amblin Television, created and exec produced by Burnett and Spielberg.
