Vancouver – A down-and-out football star contemplates suicide, while an FBI agent tracks a serial killer in the intertwining premises of Under the Sycamore Tree, a feature coproduction between B.C. prodcos Bases Loaded Entertainment and Sycamore Productions, which was set to wrap in Vancouver on Aug. 20.
According to producer John Jordan (The Truth About Miranda), the privately financed drama is being shot on weekends and has a budget comparable to a ‘dinner for 50 people at a fancy restaurant.’ Some members of the shoot’s small crew are working for free. It is directed by Shane Dean and written by Chris Shields, both of whom are better known as actors.
The cast includes Shields, William B. Taylor (Scary Movie 3) and Michelle Brezinski (Mind Games). Jordan says DOP Trevor Brown is shooting Sycamore ‘completely guerilla style, as any independent film should be,’ adding a distribution deal is in the works but not yet signed.
