Home deal for Peace Arch

Peace Arch Entertainment has inked a deal with San Diego, CA-based Genius Products to distribute five titles to American homes, just days after picking up a 500-title library from Castle Hill Productions and Dream Productions, both of New York.

The distribution deal will see Genius handle the U.S. DVDs for five pictures, all shot by Archetype Films, a wing of Peace Arch that focuses on action, sci-fi and thriller titles.

Included in the deal are: Warriors of Terra, a monster pic starring Edward Furlong; 5ive Girls with Ron Perlman; The Last Sect, with David Carradine as a vampire hunter; the Michael Madsen vehicle Ultimate Killing Machine and Troubled Waters, with Jennifer Beals as a psychic police detective.

The Genius release slate also includes the Jennifer Aniston thriller Derailed, The Matador with Pierce Brosnan and Mrs. Henderson Presents with Judi Dench.

Peace Arch is expected to close its purchase of the Castle Hill/Dream library by the end of July – picking up a number of notable indie titles as Glengarry Glen Ross, the Woody Allen directorial debut What’s Up Tiger Lilly? and A Night in Casablanca with the Marx Brothers.

Under the terms of the deal, Dream chair Mark Balsam will reportedly join Peace Arch as head of U.S. distribution.
