Ross Video scores AIM Award

Iroquois ON-based Ross Video took home an award at the 4th annual Awards for Innovation in Media, presented on April 27, closing this year’s NAB.

The awards, voted on by NAB delegates, are presented to outfits that have succeeded in creating flexible, efficient and cost-effective products in three production-related categories.

Video and audio manufacturer Ross won its AIM in the content management heat for openGear – a modular frame for broadcast terminal equipment with an open architecture, so users can purchase products from multiple vendors without having to deal with multiple frames, platforms and control systems.

‘No one vendor makes all the solutions required, so we’ve opened it up to other vendors to develop into a common platform,’ says Eric Goodmurphy, product manager for Ross. ‘With openGear being an open platform, it is very exciting to get recognition from the industry that it is what is needed out there.’

Toronto’s Ward-Beck Systems and Cobalt Digital of Urbana, IL were the two founding partners working with Ross to develop the product and shared in the AIM honor.

The product officially launched at NAB, but Goodmurphy says it has been in the field since March. www.rossvideo.com
