Telefilm Canada has promoted Dave Forget to the top of its television business unit – putting the former boss of the Ontario and Nunavut office in charge of the agency’s entire TV sector and its partnership with the Canadian Television Fund.
The move puts Forget at the center of the new ‘one board, one administrator’ structure at the CTF and Telefilm, which took shape last month.
‘Our aim is efficiency and effectiveness,’ said Telefilm exec director Wayne Clarkson, in a statement. ‘Dave Forget’s caliber will go a long way to achieving that goal.’
Forget will answer to Telefilm CAO Carolle Brabant and lead a team that includes Mary Henrickson and Roxane Girard, who are in charge of the English and French units, respectively.
‘The expectations are high but I will be able to count on a solid and committed team,’ he said in a statement.
Under the new arrangement, CTF continues to collect its annual $100 million from the federal government, and $100 million from the private sector, which it then divides among the broadcasters. Telefilm – now, specifically, Forget - makes sure the funding criteria are met and that the money gets where it needs go.
Forget is also the main liaison between the two funding agencies. Before joining Telefilm in 2001, Forget worked at Alliance Atlantis and Twentieth Century Fox.
