* Claude Galipeau has joined Alliance Atlantis Communications as its SVP of digital media, content group – crossing over from CBC, where he led the pubcaster’s multi-platform Winter Olympics coverage.

* Michael Steinberg is now Ellis Entertainment’s COO and general counsel, a new position and a move up from his previous role as VP of business and legal affairs.

* Michael Drabot is the new GM for the prairie wing of PS Production Services, following the merger between PS and his Luminaire Production Services in Winnipeg.

* Montreal’s Distraction Formats has hired Robert Kaplan as executive sales director, U.S. Kaplan, a former executive with Universal Television and Buena Vista Productions, will work out of Distraction’s new office in L.A.

* Melinda Mollineaux is now coordinator of the equity office at the Canada Council for the Arts. Mollineaux, a visual artist, has been with the council since 1999 and served as acting equity coordinator since June.
