* Michel Fortin is the new president of Jet Films in Montreal, moving up after 12 years as a partner and executive producer.

* Cheryl Nex is the new president of software maker Entertainment Partners Canada, promoted from EVP, while David Carter has been promoted to president of Canada Film Capital, up from VP of finance. Kevin Gordon is now chief technology officer for both companies, which are owned by Rainmaker Income Fund.

* Monica Veiga is now director of sales for Latin America at Cambium Catalyst International.

* APTN has tapped Monika Ille as manager of programming for its eastern region, Chuck Clement for central, and former Telefilm Canada analyst Peter Strutt for its western region.

* ACTRA has renamed Jamie Bradley as its national VP and named Ferne Downey (again) as national treasurer. They are joined by Howard Storey, Wendy Anderson, Karl Pruner, Tyrone Benskin and Brian Gromoff on the union’s national executive.

* Tony Graham has been promoted to executive producer at Toronto broadcast design firm Loopmedia, up from senior producer.

* Thom Powers has joined the Toronto International Film Festival as international documentary programmer. Powers is the former programmer and host of the Stranger Than Fiction series at the IFC Center in New York.

TIFF has also shuffled its publicity department. Andrea Grau is now director of communications, replacing the departed Gabrielle Free. Denny Alexander has taken over as communications manager, while recent hires Daniela Syrovy and Andrev Gatha are now communications coordinators. Naoko Kumagai, Tonia Addison and Kate Dickson continue to round out the team.

* Meanwhile, Gabrielle Free has landed at CHUM Limited as director of communications for its TV music and youth services. Also at CHUM, Quincy Raby has been named marketing manager of CHUM International and Craig Roskin is now station manager of CHUM TV Edmonton.

* Women in Film and Television – Toronto has hired Christine Amendola as its communications manager. Amendola arrives after five years of PR at Global Television.

* Writer/producer David Flaherty (SCTV, Maniac Mansion) has joined the comedy faculty at Toronto’s Humber College to teach scriptwriting.

* Governor General Michaëlle Jean has been named honorary patron of the Audio Visual Preservation Trust of Canada, taking over for former GG Adrienne Clarkson.
