Montreal - Saturday Night Live alumnus Will Ferrell will be shooting his next feature, Blades of Glory, in Montreal. The shoot, which will take place March 10-25, is produced by Ben Stiller’s company, Red Hour Films.
Ferrell (Elf, Melinda and Melinda) plays an Olympic skater who has been stripped of his gold medal and cast out of the sport for good. The script, cowritten by Craig Cox and Jeff Cox, has Ferrell finding a loophole in the figure skating rules that allows him back into the Olympics. With principal shooting taking place in L.A., the Montreal shoot is to accommodate the film’s many skating sequences.
Along with Ferrell, Blades of Glory will also star Toronto-born actor Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Monster-in-Law), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live). Codirected by the team of Josh Gordon and Will Speck (Angry Boy, Culture), Blades of Glory is produced by Stuart Cornfeld (Starsky & Hutch), John Jacobs (Teacher of the Year), Jeremy Kramer (Duplex) and Stiller (Zoolander), and coproduced by Colin O’Reilly.
