Trapped wrapped
Vancouver - The feature-length horror anthology Trapped Ashes wrapped in Vancouver Dec. 19 after three weeks of shooting. Produced by Japan’s Elephant Studio, the four tales of terror are written by Dennis Bartok, former programming director of the American Cinematheque, and directed by cult favorite Monte Hellman (Two-Lane Blacktop), John Gaeta (FX supervisor for the Matrix films), Sean Cunningham (Friday the 13th) and Ken Russell (The Fall of the Louse of Usher), with wraparound segments by Joe Dante (Gremlins). Bartok produces with Yoshifumi Hosoya (Sleepy Heads), Yuko Yoshikawa (Home Sweet Hoboken) and Mike Frislev (Daughters of Joy). Henry Gibson (Wedding Crashers) and Tygh Runyan (Twist) star. The film will receive a theatrical run in Japan through Asmik Ace Entertainment later this year, before airing on the Tokyo Broadcasting System. Dustin Dinoff
Dorff leads Ludlum thriller
Toronto – The science-based thriller The Hades Factor wrapped last month after a two-month stay in southern Ontario. The CBS mini, starring Stephen Dorff, Mira Sorvino, Colm Meaney and Anjelica Huston, pits a government agent (Dorff) against a gang of bioterrorists, and is based on the book by Robert Ludlum. Shot by Mick Jackson (Jack and Bobby, The Handler) and lit by DOP Ivan Strasburg (The Handler) the 2 x 90 shot at locations around Toronto and at a quarry in nearby Uxbridge, which stood in for Afghanistan.
Larry Sanitsky (Riding the Bus with My Sister) of The Sanitsky Company and Rola Bauer (Ring of the Nibelungs) of Tandem Commuications produce with Ludlum Entertainment’s Paul Sanderberg (The Bourne Supremacy). Sean Davidson
