C.R.A.Z.Y. scored big at TIFF – selling in 25 territories and taking the Toronto-City prize for best Canadian feature and $30,000 for its ‘standout acting… and extraordinary visual inventiveness.’

Meanwhile, Canada First! opener Familia by Louise Archambault and country music mock-doc The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico split the $15,000 Citytv award for best Canadian first feature at this year’s TIFF.

Gavin Hood’s Tsotsi, a gangland story from the U.K. and South Africa, won the People’s Choice Award.

The press corps gave its Discovery Award and $15,000 to Australia’s Sarah Watt and her train-wreck drama Look Both Ways.

South Korean director Kang Yi-kwan took home the FIPRESCI prize, awarded by the film critics, for his Sa-kwa.

The Bravo!FACT award for best Canuck short and $10,000 went to Big Girl by Renuka Jeyapalan, with honorable mention for Andrea Dorfman’s There’s a Flower in My Pedal. Director and co-writer Richie Mehta won the Pitch This! competition and $10,000 for his drama Amal.
