Whizbang takes Break
Toronto – Shooting starts June 6 on Code Breakers, an MOW for ESPN produced by Toronto’s Whizbang Films and L.A.-based Orly Adelson Productions. Rod Holcomb (Lost) directs from a script written by Ross Parker and Bill McWilliams, about a 1952 cheating scandal at the West Point Military Academy. Tom Del Ruth is DOP and producer Frank Siracusa (This is Wonderland, Due South) says the budget will top US$5 million.
Universities in London, ON, and Toronto will stand in for West Point during the five-week shoot. Previous collaborations between Whizbang and Orly Adelson include MOW Triangle and TV series Tilt. Code Breakers airs on ESPN this fall. Brad Farrell
Lifetime wraps Secret
Toronto – Shooting has wrapped on the Lifetime MOW Cyber-Seduction: His Secret Life, about a teenage boy’s addiction to Internet porn. L.A.-based Jaffe/Braunstein Films and Toronto-based Steve Solmos produce, working with helmer Tom McLoughlin (Without a Trace). Budget is in the $3-million to $5-million range. Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan) heads a cast that’s mostly American except for Montreal’s Benz Antoine (Blue Murder, the 50 Cent biopic Get Rich or Die Tryin’).
Cyber-Seduction is the latest in a string of Jaffe/Braunstein dramas about troubled teens, following Odd Girl Out and She’s Too Young. Cyber-Seduction is slated to air on Lifetime June 20. Brad Farrell
