* The Toronto International Film Festival has appointed Giulia Filippelli as senior international advisor to the OMDC Sales Office, where she will advise TIFF on expanding its sales operations, starting with Cannes.
Also at TIFF, Angie Driscoll and Myrocia Watamaniuk have joined the festival as programmers for Canadian short films. Watamaniuk has programmed the Canadian Film Centre’s Worldwide Short Film Festival, Hot Docs, the Toronto Italian Film Festival, the Reelworld Film Festival, and was a producer on CBC’s counterSpin. Driscoll has worked as coordinator of the Toronto Documentary Forum at Hot Docs International Documentary Festival for the past two years.
* Tracey Wood is the new director of industrial and external relations at the B.C. producers branch of the CFTPA, negotiating collective agreements for directors, performers and technicians. Wood has held labor relations posts at the Union of BC Performers/ACTRA, and the Toronto Musicians’ Association.
* Toronto design and animation house Loopmedia has hired Elan Gillespie as director of communications, overseeing advertising, mass media and brand development.
