The Alliance for Children and Television has announced the recipients of its Outstanding Achievement Award and Emerging Talent Award.
Kevin Wright, senior vice-president of Astral Television Networks, will receive ACT’s Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions acquiring, commissioning and scheduling programs for Family Channel, Mpix and The Movie Network and, previously, Teletoon. Wright has also been a member of several youth programming associations and sat on the board of directors of the ACT for 10 years.
‘His boldness, creativity and perseverance have helped raise quality standards for our children’s programming and demonstrate Canadian leadership in the industry year after year,’ says ACT executive director Caroline Fortier.
The Emerging Talent Award will be presented to Mark Bishop and Matt Hornburg of Toronto’s marblemedia for their work developing and producing innovative projects across media platforms, including broadcast, Web, wireless, DVD and interactive kiosks. Their productions include Burnt Toast, deafplanet.com and This is Daniel Cook.
The ACT Gala, hosted by Peter Keleghan, takes place June 1 at CBC’s Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto.
