Anaid goes Greek

Edmonton – Producer Margaret Mardirossian of Edmonton-based Anaid Productions is nearing the end of a shooting schedule that started with dinner at a local Greek restaurant last December.

Family Restaurant is a behind-the-scenes documentary series about Yianni Psalios and his family-run Greek restaurants, including the Koutouki Taverna, renowned as one of the city’s finest. The six-part half-hour series for Food Network Canada is written and directed by Marina Michaelides, who is also creative director. Connie Edwards also directs.

Produced for less than $1 million, the series is funded by the CanWest Western Independent Producers Fund, the Canadian Television Fund, the Alberta Film Development Program and federal tax credits.

Shooting continues in and around Edmonton until the end of April, and the series is expected to begin airing on Food in October. Life Network has second window. Laura Bracken
