Nanaimo subs as Sam’s Lake

Vancouver: Three weeks of production wrapped Oct. 17 in Nanaimo on Sam’s Lake, a psychological horror/thriller by Ottawa native writer/director Andrew Christopher Erin and bankrolled by Madonna’s Maverick Films and Seoul, South Korea-based distributor Mirovision.

Fay Masterson (Paparazzi), Sandrine Holt (Resident Evil: Apocalypse) and Stephen Bishop (Friday Night Lights) star in the story inspired by a murder-mystery-turned-legend surrounding a massacre near Sam’s Lake, ON. In the movie, a woman returns to the secluded lakeside cottage she grew up in with some city friends, goes on an adventure to revisit the site of the murder, and comes face-to-face with the terrifying legend.

Guy Oseary, Madonna’s partner in Maverick, is among the executive producers. Amy Green, a partner with Erin in production company One Eye Open, is a producer.

Mirovision will handle international film rights and Maverick will represent the rights for North American distribution. Ian Edwards
