La Face cachee eyes Oscar
Telefilm Canada has sent Robert Lepage’s La Face cachee de la lune to L.A. in search of an Oscar nomination. The hit film, starring Anne-Marie Cadieux and Richard Frechette, is the Canadian submission for best foreign-language film at the 77th Academy Awards. The nominees will be announced Feb. 7, 2005.
High prices hurt digi TV
High prices are keeping consumers away from digital television, according to a new study by Decima Research that found, although digital subscriptions continue to climb, most analog costumers (60%) are happy with their existing service. Nearly half (48%) say they do not need digital service, or are simply not interested, while 33% cite cost.
Peace Arch moves to T.O.
B.C’s Peace Arch Entertainment Group has pulled stumps and moved to Toronto, making its long-expected relocation official Sept. 1. The company has, in recent years, shifted its focus towards Ontario-made genre pictures – produced through its local subsidiary GFT Entertainment – and greenlit the move at its AGM in February.
GFT has been renamed Peace Arch Motion Pictures.
