Five productions in three months for Insight
Vancouver – Partnered Vancouver companies Insight Film & Video and Shavick Entertainment are producing the ultra-low-budget ‘supernatural college genre’ video feature Killer Bash with Winnipeg-based B-movie director David DeCoteau (Leeches!).
Eight days of production wraps Sept. 3 on the story of Becky Jeckyl, an outcast campus ‘loser,’ who finds a charmed ring – making her popular, but also possessed by an evil spirit intent on killing the very people she so wishes to befriend. The 10/10 Canadian-content show was not cast at press time. Production is set for Riverview Hospital and Maple Ridge, the latter a suburb of Vancouver that qualifies for the regional tax-credit bonus.
Insight is also gearing up for a very busy September with more low-budget MOWs for L.A.-based Regent Entertainment, with which Insight has a multi-picture production deal.
Eve’s Christmas, which will air on Lifetime, goes Sept. 7 and is about a successful businesswoman who, in a Scrooge-like odyssey, relives moments and choices in her life.
Later in September, Insight will also do the asteroid disaster movie Deadly Skies and the gay baseball story Third Man Out for Regent. In October, murder mystery Fatal Reunion is on the schedule, also for Regent. Ian Edwards
