* Nelvana’s interim president Paul Robertson has moved up to parent company Corus Entertainment, as president of television, passing control of the animation house to Corus boss John Cassaday.
Martha Van Gelder is the new SVP of sales and distribution at Nelvana, coming over from an EVP spot at New York’s Sesame Workshop. Van Gelder will sell programming to U.S. and Pacific Rim ‘casters from the Nelvana office in Los Angeles.
* Toronto-based Decode Entertainment has promoted Dominique Bazay to VP and Dan Fill to VP interactive. Most recently, Bazay managed Decode’s distribution department while Fill was director of interactive development at Decode Interactive, a department he created.
* Ending three months of interim placement, Rachel Low is now president of Red Apple Entertainment.
* Andrew Austin is the new SVP of Canadian distribution at Toronto-based ThinkFilm, coming over from Seville Pictures. ThinkFilm’s Tamara Shannon, meanwhile, has been upped to VP of theatrical distribution.
* Blueprint Entertainment has hired former Alliance Atlantis exec Christine Shipton as SVP of its Toronto office, and promoted Jeff Lynas to SVP of its shop in L.A. The company is looking to expand its development and production efforts in Canada.
* Robin Smith has been named operations manager, theatrical and video distribution at Capri Releasing, Toronto. Smith will be responsible for coordinating all theatrical and home video releases for Capri in Canada, reporting directly to president Tony Cianciotta.
Smith most recently served as director of sales and marketing for Seville Pictures. Smith has also held executive positions at Lions Gate Films, Blackwatch Releasing and Alliance Atlantis Communications.
* Jill Rosenberg is the new national organizer for digital media at ACTRA, responsible for the union’s strategies relating to websites, videogames, and online advertising.
* Former Northwest Territories premier Stephen Kakfwi and Dale Godsoe, chair of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy, have joined the VisionTV board of directors.
* Ron Feddersen, one-time head of Schindler Elevator in Canada, has joined the board of directors at Devine Entertainment, filling in for Mary Golfman, who stepped down in March. Bill Ballard also recently exited the board, but has not yet been replaced.
