What are you looking for at NAB2004?

John deNottbeck, Wanted! Post-Production, Toronto

Wanted! will have one rep on hand at NAB2004.

PB: What will you be doing there?

JDN: Since Wanted! distributes the T-M digital language translation dubbing and subtitling system, our focus will be working the booth as the Canadian representative with our American parent company. We’ll also be doing some window-shopping to see what’s new.

Eyes Post Group, Toronto

Four staffers from Eyes Post will be Vegas-bound.

PB: What will you be looking for at the show?

IH: Sunshine and lots of networking with clients and vendors. We are looking for HD and data solutions as well as any new developments to lower the cost of post. We’re going to window-shop.

George Levai, Optix Digital Pictures, Toronto

Optix is sending two from Toronto and two from Hamburg.

PB: What will you be looking for at the show?

GL: A color-grading solution, an HD system, Discreet lustre and flame, upconverters, HD decks from Panasonic and Sony, products from Avid, DVD authoring, Web design and streaming technology.

Rob Power, PowerPost Production, Halifax

PowerPost has a little further to travel, but will have one or two on hand.

PB: What will you be looking for?

RB: Storage area networks, an online sound effects database, render farm tools, digital asset management, animation software, HD cameras and decks. We are interested in the Sony XDCAM cameras and the new large-format console from Digidesign.

Bob Scarabelli, Rainmaker, Vancouver

nab is a big deal to Rainmaker, which is sending five staffers.

PB: What will you be looking for?

BS: We are interested in looking at HD discs and monitoring tools, PC-based collaborative editing tools, digital asset management tools, compression tools, SAN solutions, fiber providers and interfaces. We’ll be window-shopping and buying at the same time.

Rob Sim, Sim Video, Toronto

Sim Video is sending six reps – from Toronto, l.a. and Vancouver.

PB: What will you be looking for?

RS: We are always looking for the hottest items in video and HD cameras, lenses and accessories, as well as post-production, sound and lighting equipment. Our top priority this year is to see leading manufacturers unveil new products in HD production. We use this event as an opportunity to source and determine which products warrant further evaluation.

James Tocher, Digital Film Group, Vancouver

Three from dfg will be snooping around the nab floor.

PB: What will you be looking for?

JT: New HD posting and grading equipment and new HD 4:4:4 capture solutions. And we will be looking at the latest in film recording and scanning technology as the demand for digital intermediate grows.

I am interested in Thomson’s new higher-res uncompressed HD cameras and new indie filmmaker solutions from Sony, Panasonic and JVC.
