* TVA Films has hired Joanne Senecal as VP of distribution. Senecal was previously director of marketing and distribution for Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm and GM of distribution for Behaviour Distribution. For the past four years, she has been associated with Montreal’s Film Tonic.
TVA has also hired former Morningstar Entertainment regional director of sales and marketing Nicole La Penna as director of video distribution.
* Leon Arcand has joined Montreal-based Cineflix Canada as VP of production. He will oversee Cineflix’s production and copro operations in Canada, while also working with its U.K. distribution arm.
* At Toronto’s MicroTainment/ DocuTainment Plus Productions, Jonathan Powell is the new VP of business development and corporate relations, Sharon Farberman is VP of finance and Allison Weiss is now director of business affairs.
* Agnes Augustin, formerly of Corus Entertainment and Telefilm Canada, is the new executive director of the Shaw Television Broadcast Fund.
* At ichannel and bpm:tv, Sidney Cohen is the new production supervisor and director, and Richard Baker is now operations manager. Mike Douglas is exec producer of all in-house ichannel shows and Monika Jensen-Stevenson is its new head of programming. Both diginets are owned by Stornoway Communications.
* Maureen Oxley is the new director of marketing and customer service at the Toronto International Film Festival Group. A festival employee since 2002, Oxley previously served as associate director of marketing and membership.
* Taylor Baiden is stepping down as VP finance at CHUM Ltd. as of April 15 to pursue other interests. He will also give up his position on the board of directors, ending 32 years with the Toronto broadcaster.
On the West Coast, Brad Phillips, VP and GM of Citytv Vancouver, has been promoted to the new position of VP CHUM Television B.C. He replaces Howard Slutsken, who is starting his own consulting firm and will continue as a broadcast consultant with CHUM Television.
* National Screen Institute – Canada program manager Judith McCann has been named chief executive of Film New Zealand, and will move to her new post in late June.
* Veteran broadcast journalist Pat Bolland is now an anchor and reporter at Report on Business Television. Bolland’s posting comes after stints at NBC’s Early Today, CNBC’s Wake Up Call, and most recently as executive producer for American Business Broadcast.
