A reduction in the number of active productions underway at Montreal’s CineGroupe means a reduction in the workforce, affecting both contract employees and full-time staff employees.
Marie-Christine Dufour, senior VP for communications and marketing at CineGroupe, says about 10% of the 300 workers have been let go in the past month.
‘This is a normal course of business,’ she says. ‘We are restructuring internally as we move from five active productions to three.’
The 2D animated coproduction series What’s with Andy? is in post-production, along with the 3D series Tripping the Rift and an unnamed direct-to-video service job. The 3D feature P3K: Pinocchio 3000 is delivering its post-production and animation to its copro partner and Pig City, season 2, has wrapped.
