* Newswoman Beverly Thompson has left Toronto’s Global Television to join CTV’s Canada A.M. Thompson has been a fixture at the anchor desk for Global for several years and will make her first appearance as cohost on Canada A.M. Nov. 3.

* Lisa Lyons has been appointed VP and GM Max Trax and content distribution at Corus Television.

Lyons will be responsible for all aspects of Corus business associated with affiliate revenues including the development of partnerships with cable and satellite partners, and innovative new content opportunities with revenue potential.

Lyons spent the last six months helping launch branded entertainment company chokolat.

* Jonathan Shore has been appointed VP operations and post-production at Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures. Previously, he was director of post-production at Shavick Entertainment.

* Michael Ghent, a B.C. producer and film festival programmer, is the new western development manager, Canadian production at Global Television in Vancouver. He replaces Barbara Petersen, who has relocated to California.

* Celine Bellemare has left her position as director of program development at Tele-Quebec to join Radio-Canada, where she will take over as director, youth and family programming, effective Sept. 15.

* Jerry Andrews has joined Toronto’s Spin Productions as visual effects supervisor. Formerly a motion-control effects specialist at Toronto-based Toybox, Andrew’s credits include feature films Chicago, K-19: The Widowmaker, Jason X and eXistenZ.

* Jim Peters, a senior producer of CTV News with Lloyd Robertson, will join CTV British Columbia’s news team as assignment editor this fall. In the 1980s, Peters worked on the assignment desks at CBC Vancouver and BCTV.

* Philippe Tousignant has been appointed manager, media and parliamentary relations with the communications branch of the CRTC. Tousignant had worked with the Telecom Directorate since September 2000, most recently as manager, consumer policy.

* Guy Fournier, chairman of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television in Quebec, has announced the election of a new board of directors for 2003/04.

The members are: Danielle Beaudry, Marie Brissette, Jocelyn Deschenes, Simon Durivage, Stephane Gabriele, Louis-Georges Girard, Louise Lantagne, France Lauziere, Sylvie Lussier, Jacques Mathieu, Denis Papillon, Annie Pierard, Donald Pilon, Michel Poulette, Claire Samson and former chairperson Suzanne D’Amours.

ACCT – Quebec currently has 1,100 members from all sectors of the film and TV industry.
