Performance Solutions expands offerings

Performance Solutions/Set Solutions, a Toronto-based outfit that provides physical F/X services and equipment rentals, has recently expanded its offerings with the acquisition of aerial rigging company Harcourt Rigging and physical F/X house Malivoire Pictures.

Performance, which services feature, TV, spot and video clients, now provides a wider range of offerings with David Harcourt and Martin Malivoire on board. Harcourt has amassed more than 50 credits in aerial performance shooting on projects including Tuxedo, K-19: The Widowmaker, Undercover Brother, Exit Wounds and X-Men. Jackie Chan, star of The Tuxedo, called on Harcourt again for the forthcoming release Around the World in 80 Days, which shot in Thailand.

Industry veteran Malivoire has amassed many credits of his own over more than 30 years, including, recently, The In-Laws, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Caveman’s Valentine.

Performance’s offerings encompass snow products, breakaway glass, custom props, stages and platforms, drapery, and specialty winches. The company also manufacturers its own set products, including Tornado Fans, JC 100 Smoke Machines and Flame Generators.

The Set Solutions construction division has recently grown as well, with a 10,000-square-foot building extension to allow the company to take on multiple projects at once. Performance has also launched a 3D rendering and graphics studio for digital F/X in its goal to be a one-stop shop.

Performance’s many feature, MOW and straight-to-video credits include Ararat, Godsend and Left Behind II: Tribulation Force. It recently wrapped on Welcome to Mooseport with Gene Hackman and Ray Romano and is ramping up for the sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse, starring Milla Jovovich.
