Film and TV producer Jon Slan and Scientific Games CEO Lorne Weil have launched Slanted Wheel Entertainment, a Toronto-based company whose sole focus is the adaptation of literary works into films for the big and small screens.

Slanted Wheel already has rights to Charlie Wilcox, written by Sharon McKay of CBC; A Friend Of The Family: The True Story of David Snow, written by Alison Shaw, and Too Close to the Falls by Catherine Gildiner.

As well, John Farrow’s thriller City of Ice is already in development at Alliance Atlantis as a feature.

Slan is Slanted Wheel’s president, with Weil acting as non-executive chairman. Writer and journalist Rachel Rafelman is director of development.
