Toronto prodco Steam Films has added local director Philip Kates to its roster. Kates’ Halls spot ‘Golfing,’ which he directed while with The Players Film Company through J. Walter Thompson, was among On The Spot’s Top Spots in 2001. In addition, he has won awards including a Bronze Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival and a Gold Bessie. Kates is repped in the U.S. by Open Frame.
