Cdn Film Tour II rolls in U.K.

Following last year’s maiden launch, the Canadian Cinema Showcase is again touring the U.K., from Jan. 9 to March 30. Six Canuck features are being screened in 15 cities, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Sheffield and Dublin.

The films are: director Andre Turpin’s Un crabe dans la tete, Sturla Gunnarsson’s Rare Birds, Tim Southam’s The Bay of Love and Sorrows, Denis Villeneuve’s Maelstrom, Guy Bennett’s Punch and Denys Arcand’s Le Declin de l’empire americain.

Some of the cities on the tour will also receive four guests involved with some of the films: Bennett and his daughter Sonja, who stars in Punch, Gunnarsson and Southam.

The films will be screened along with the Scottish short Sniper 470. As part of the arrangement, organized between the Film Circuit, a division of the Toronto International Film Festival Group, and the Edinburgh Filmhouse, the Film Circuit will bring a series of Scottish shorts to Canada later this year.
