* Music industry executive Richard Camilleri has been appointed CanWest Global Communications’ new chief operating officer responsible for the integration of TV, radio, print, advertising and interactive operations. He is former president of Sony Music Entertainment (Canada) and more recently was chairman and CEO of Arius3D, a 3D imaging company.

Camilleri replaces Tom Strike, who is named to the new post of COO (corporate). The appointments are effective July 1.

* Canadian television veteran Patrick Watson has joined AAC Fact as creative consultant.

* Gordon McIlquham, formerly VP of finance at Fireworks Entertainment, has been appointed CFO at Toronto-based CCI Entertainment.

Jim Corston has been appointed VP of production. He was most recently independent producer on the AAC/BBC series Ace Lightning.

* Sylvia Sweeney has been named executive producer of the National Film Board’s Ontario Production Centre, effective June 24. Prior to joining the NFB, Sweeney, a producer and director, was president of Elitha Peterson Productions.

Sweeney replaces Louise Lore, who is leaves the NFB after more than six years as exec producer of the OPC.

* Lisa Cochrane has joined Montreal’s Amerimage Spectra as a producer of performing arts programs. Cochrane is a former dancer and choregrapher, documentary producer through her own Nova Scotia-based company, The Pulse Project, and freelance critic.

* Alice Wright, associated for many years with Audio-Telepoint, has joined Montreal’s Covitec-Technicolor as director, sound design services.

* Toronto-based Side Effects Software has hired Robert Magee as customer experience specialist. Magee is a 10-year veteran of Alias|Wavefront..

* Patrice Cormier has joined Montreal post/F/X company Buzz Image Group as VP of HD development. Cormier was previously an online editor at Buzz before joining software manufacturer Discreet as a fire and smoke senior trainer.

Buzz has also hired Andre Montambeault, a veteran compositor in the spot field.

* Jacquelin Bouchard, president and CEO of Pixcom Group, is elected chair of the APFTQ Quebec producers association. The association’s board, named at the May 31 annual general assembly, includes vice-chairs Vincent Leduc and Denise Robert , the outgoing chair. Luc Wiseman is secretary-treasurer.

The other (sectorial) members of the board are Jacques Blain, Lorraine Richard, Monique Simard, Andre A. Belanger and Michel Raymond. Claire Samson is president/director-general.
