* Peter Moss, former president of Cinar Entertainment, has been appointed to the newly formed position of VP of programming for Corus Television, effective May 1.

In this role, Moss will be responsible for developing strategic approaches to program development, acquisition and partnerships for all of Corus’ television services.

Prior to Cinar, Moss was VP of programming and production at YTV from 1998 to 2000.

* The National Film Board has named Johanne St-Arnauld director of its new commercial distribution branch. NFB chair Jacques Bensimon says the board is ‘deeply committed to increasing our commercial revenues, which will be reinvested in film production.’

A 15-year industry veteran, most recently St-Arnauld was director, international relations with Telefilm Canada. She served as the agency’s acting executive director from July 2001 to December 2001. She starts at the NFB May 13.

Sheila De La Varende, director of Telefilm’s European office, will assume the additional responsibility of interim director, international relations, effective May 1.

* Caroline Murphy has been appointed to the newly created position of VP, finance for CineNova.

Murphy’s arrival rounds out a handful of new senior appointments at the doc house. She is the former VP finance of Breakthrough Films and Atlantis Productions.

* Marie-Claude Poulin has joined distributor TVA Films as EVP responsible for acquisitions and marketing. Poulin was most recently with feature film producer Melenny Productions.

* Pierre Even, former director, feature film business unit, Quebec operations at Telefilm Canada, has joined Cirrus Communications as director, feature films.

* Francois Brisson is the new general manager at Vivatoon, the animation division of Montreal production house Vivavision. Brisson’s creative credits include Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Marsupulami.

* Les Chaines Tele-Astral has named Veronique Lussier director, marketing communications for youth channel VRAK.TV. Lussier will continue to serve as director, marketing communications for specialty channel Canal Vie.

* Montreal-based technical services company Vision Globale has announced the appointment of Hubert Harel as chairman and executive director.

* Alan Goluboff has been elected to his third term as president of the Directors Guild of Canada.

The new national executive board also includes VP George Chapman and secretary-treasurer Manny Danelon.

The DGC, which turns 40 this year, will host its first annual awards show in October.
