* Janet Yale, president and CEO of the Canadian Cable Television Association, has been appointed chair of the CTF board of directors.

With the election of Yale, who previously served as vice chair of the board, stewardship of the CTF’s board returns again to a representative of the cable industry, which last year contributed more than $60 million to the CTF.

Other CTF appointments include Michael Scott to director of program delivery, English market, and Chantale Gagnon to director of program delivery, French market.

Scott was the former manager of business analysis and policy application and Gagnon was manager of program delivery operations.

* The Banff Television Foundation has appointed 13 new members to its board of governors.

Representing a mix of broadcast, film, television and production interests from six countries, the new members are: Rudy Buttignol, creative head, documentaries, drama and network, TVOntario; Elizabeth McDonald, president and CEO, CFTPA; Glenn O’Farrell, president and CEO, Canadian Association of Broadcasters; Wayne Clarkson, exec director, Canadian Film Centre; Dominique Baudis, president, Conseil Superieur de l’Audiovisuel, France; Peter Bazalgette, creative head, GMG Endemol Entertainment, U.K.; Robert Chua, founder/chairman, China Entertainment Television Broadcast; John Ford, president, content group, Discovery Networks, U.S.; Ted Lingard, GM, Sonic Foundry Media Services, U.S.; Mary Hofstetter, president and CEO, The Banff Centre; David Kessler, director general, Centre National de la Cinematographie, France; Peter Matlare, CEO South Africa Broadcasting Corp.; and Georg von Habsburg, member of the board, MTM-SBS Televizio RT (TV2), Hungary.

Trina McQueen, who recently completed three years as chair of the board of directors, of which she has been a member for the past 13 years, assumes the role of new chair of the board of governors.

She replaces Arthur Weinthal.

* Rob Germain has been promoted news director for Global’s Victoria station CH, replacing Ian Haysom, who is the news director for BCTV News on Global in Vancouver. Germain, a 16-year vet, was previously assignment editor at CH News.
