Parker bids adieu to Corus

Paula Parker, VP of programming and production for children’s television at Corus Entertainment, has resigned her position to spend time with her family.

Parker’s responsibilities include the acquisition of all new programming for YTV, Treehouse and new diginet Discovery Kids.

Taking over as VP of programming in January 2000, Parker was previously the director of programming and production for YTV and Treehouse, and prior to that, the network’s program manager.

Since joining the kids net in 1989, she has been instrumental in bringing about the strategic partnership between Nickelodeon and YTV, as well as acquiring such hot properties as Pokemon and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

She joined YTV after 10 years working in distribution with Paramount Television International in Toronto and Bermuda.

Parker’s last day was Jan. 31. While a replacement is sought for the widely respected broadcasting exec, Joanna Webb, director of programming for children’s television at Corus, will continue to be responsible for acquisitions and programming of children’s services.
