Glenn O’Farrell has been appointed the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ new president and CEO, effective Jan. 7, 2002.
O’Farrell joins CAB from the Global Television Network, where, as senior VP of specialty services, he had overall strategic responsibility for the broadcaster’s existing cable channels and for new channels in development.
As the former president of Global Quebec, O’Farrell had executive responsibility for network operations in the province, where he was the architect of Global’s expansion.
Previous to that, he held the position of VP, legal and regulatory affairs.
Prior to joining Global in 1990, he was the VP of legal affairs for Le Reseau Pathonic, a regional television network consisting of TVA affiliate stations outside of Montreal.
O’Farrell is a member of CAB’s board of directors and the Canadian Broadcasters’ Rights Retransmission Agency.
