Further study of the literally hundreds of awards given out at the Promax&BDA 2001 conference in Miami Beach, June 20-23, has revealed more Canadian success.
YTV’s in-house creative team, collaborating with Headgear Animation and Spin Productions, took home a dozen Broadcast Design Awards at the show. The awards (four each of gold, silver and bronze) recognize network image material from YTV’s fall 2000 campaign. The network’s design team was led by creative director Dolores Keating-Mallen. Sound design shop Deschamps Studio also collaborated on the fall campaign, while Nicolas Kajima and Vince Robles provided art direction for the spots.
The credits for CBC’s gold and bronze BDA awards, for on-air design for the 2000 Summer Olympic Games, are as follows: Doug Temple, art director/designer; Sang-Mi Jeon, designer; Roger Hupman, compositor; Gerard Bueche, creative director, design. The aforementioned are all part of CBC’s graphics design department. Toronto design shop Tango Media Group provided the 3D animation. *
