The 2001 Saatchi & Saatchi/On the Spot First Cut Award will be held Thursday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Capitol Event Theatre, 2492 Yonge St. in Toronto. The event will recognize the best of Canada’s young directorial commercial talent, having previously helped launch the careers of Wayne Craig, Eddy Chu and last year’s winner, Randy Diplock. This year there will be one winner, who will receive a trip to the 2002 Cannes Advertising Festival, including flight, hotel and registration to the event.

The list of judges for the 2001 First Cut Award has yet to be confirmed. *
