Montreal: At its June 4 annual general meeting, the 125-member APFTQ re-elected feature film producer and Cinemaginaire president Denise Robert as its chair and elected television producer and Zone 3 VP Vincent Leduc as vice-chair. Luc Wiseman, president of Avanti Cine Video, was elected association secretary-treasurer.
Under president and director-general Claire Samson, the Quebec producers association made significant gains on the labor relations front in the past year, signing collective agreements with performers in the UDA, TV writers and researchers in SARTEC, and with the Writers Guild of Canada. The producers also reached union dues agreements with the Quebec Council of the Directors Guild of Canada.
Negotiations are ongoing with production technicians in STCVQ (film) and APVQ (video). Contract negotiations with French-language TV directors in the ARRQ are now in arbitration.
The improved climate in labor relations is partly due to expanded APFTQ resources, with permanent staff numbering 12.
The other members of the 2001/02 APFTQ board are: documentary producer Nathalie Barton, president InformAction; TV producer Jacques Blain, president, Cirrus Communications; feature film producer Lyse Lafontaine, president, Lyla Films; feature film producer Jean-Roch Marcotte, president, Totale Fiction; animation producer Jean-Yves Martel, partner and VP productions, Pascal Blais; and commercial film producer Michel Raymond, VP and executive producer, La Fabrique d’Images.
Celine Pelletier is the association’s communications director. *
