NAB2001 marks the first anniversary of U.K.-based Innovation TK’s Millennium Machine telecine system. The MM is designed around the concept of creating digital images as close as possible to the actual film, with a warmer and more organic feel. At this year’s show, ITK will demonstrate the MM’s work with 16mm, Super 16, 35mm, super 35, Vista Vision (realtime) and 70mm. The 70mm gate and 4K high-speed data option are new and will be previewed at NAB.
The 70mm option allows transfer of both 65mm and 70mm film formats, including large formats such as 15-perf. The flexibility of the telecine is not compromised and the same features, speeds and resolutions available with 16mm and 35mm are present when transferring 70mm, up to 2K at near realtime or non-realtime resolutions as high as 4096×4096 with the 4K option.
The scanning system supports the same zooms, pans, rotates and other scan effects, and the video processing performs the same realtime aperture, primary and secondary corrections.
ITK’s telecine upgrade products will include the Y-Front, the TWiGi system and the SCAN’dAL, the latter two being standard equipment on the URSA Diamond. *
