Bigger Cannes presence for Telefilm Canada

With a new policy mandate from government and an expanded funding envelope for feature films, Telefilm Canada is raising its profile at this year’s Cannes Film Festival & Market. The federal funding agency has relocated to street-level offices at the Grand Hotel. Telefilm hopes Canadian producers and distributors will be more actively present at the new location, which generally provides for a lot more accessibility to the Canadian industry.

This year, says Lise Corriveau, Telefilm’s manager, festivals and markets, Telefilm will host the Western provincial agencies, namely B.C. Film, Alberta producers, Saskfilm and Manitoba Film & Sound, as well as Ontario Media Development Corporation. Telefilm is also collaborating with producers in the Canadian Film and Television Production Association.
