Another Canadian company has enhanced the national tradition of strong ties with France.
Toronto kids prodco Decode Entertainment (Angela Anaconda) has signed its first French coproduction deal with Alphanim in Paris to coproduce kids animated series King with Funbag Productions of Ottawa, Canada. Decode will search for presales at mip-tv, while Family Channel in Canada has already ordered 26 x 22-minute episodes.
Decode partner Neil Court says his company and Alphanim will also coproduce an unnamed project in which the Paris coproducer will hold the majority interest.
Meantime, Decode has made its first sale of its new, live-action/cgi animation series The Blobheads to Nickelodeon uk, although the show is still in preproduction. Aimed at the much-sought tween demo of ages eight to 12, The Blobheads – a coprod with C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures of Toronto – mixes live-action humans with cgi aliens for a ‘distinctive and original look.’
