LGE snags 6 West Indie noms

Vancouver: Six Lions Gate Entertainment films received nominations, the most ever, at the 16th annual IFP/West Independent Spirit Awards.

Shadow of the Vampire, Songcatcher and Two Family House each received two nominations, while The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Jesus’ Son and Love and Sex received one each.

Among the nominees, Billy Crudup is in the best male lead category for Jesus, Kelly MacDonald is vying for best female lead in Family, Willem Dafoe is up for best supporting actor in Vampire and Pat Carroll is up for best supporting female for Songcatcher.

Emmy Rossum is nominated in the best debut performance category for her starring role in Songcatcher. Vampire was also recognized for the work of cinematographer Lou Bogue.

Tammy Faye is in the best documentary category, while Love and Sex and Family are up for best screenplay.

The awards are handed out just before the Oscars in March. •
