Who’s gone where? From where? And when? As the Revolving Doors spin, we put the spotlight on spot-makers on-the-move.
fresh off of a very successful and well-attended 10th anniversary bash, Imported Artists president Christina Ford says her Toronto-based spot shop is making some changes. Those changes come in the form of a new look, a new website and a whack of new directors.
In this new Imported age, director Rebecca Blake has made the jump for representation in Canada. Previously repped in Canada by Toronto’s Avion Films, Blake is a New York-based director whom Ford says has ‘a dynamic reel.’
‘She’s a photographer who has made an incredible transition from [stills] photography into the world of directing,’ says Ford. ‘She has done a lot of car work and has fantastic visuals. She has done beauty as well and is a great visual storyteller.’
Imported has also announced it will also be repping the three gents on l.a.-based Dektor Films’ roster – directors Eugene Yelchin and Mark Dektor, and director/dop Paul Dektor.
Ford says she appreciates the history behind the shop: Paul and Mark Dektor are the sons of ‘a commercial giant,’ director Leslie Dektor.
‘Aside from the name, which is synonymous with unbelievable work, their reels are phenomenal,’ says Ford. ‘I thought Paul was fantastic, Eugene has a brilliant reel, and Mark is definitely an up-and-comer.’
Although less experienced than his peers in Dektor Films, Mark has shot for clients like Michelob and Schweppes. Paul’s credits include work for the Sacramento Kings nba franchise, Visa and Nike, while Yelchin’s client list features Coca-Cola, Trojan and Legoland.
Imported is also repping bicoastal Flying Tiger Films’ roster exclusively in Canada. The Tigers include director/dop Klaus Obermeyer (bmw, Fairmont, Mercedes) and directors James Holt (Nissan, Budweiser, Delphi), Ken Arlidge (Mazda, Reebok, Nike) and Henrik Hansen (Amnesty International, Telia Image, Mercedes).
All this and a website, too.
Importedartists.com is now on the Web and is indicative of the changes happening at the shop.
‘Imported Artists is now creating a brand new identity for itself for the next 10 years,’ says Ford. ‘We’ve changed our logo, and that is sort of reflected in the styling and identification of the website. It’s helping launch the next 10 years with a new identity and new logo and a total sort of revamp of Imported Artists.’
Importedartists.com is currently featuring a number of pictures snapped at its 10th anniversary bash, held Oct. 12. If you think you did something to embarrass yourself, check the site and find out for sure.
