* Louise Baillargeon, former president of l’Association des producteurs de films et de television du Quebec, has been named senior director, French policy and Montreal corporate affairs, Canadian Television Fund.
* David Kines is the new vp and gm of civi, Chum Television’s newly licensed, Victoria-based independent tv station. Kines, former director of music operations for MuchMusic, will be responsible for the station’s launch in fall 2001, and its day-to-day operations.
Other civi appointments include Clint Nickerson to director of news and information programming, and Laura Acton to the position of director of community affairs.
* ctv veteran journalist Dennis McIntosh has been appointed vp, CTV News, effective immediately.
Reporting to the newly appointed Kirk LaPointe, senior vp, ctv news, McIntosh will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the news department, including the regional news operations, Internet news service and CTV Newsnet.
Margaret Sirotich, previously with Mirvish Productions, has been appointed manager, programming communications, ctv.
Freelance journalist Amber Nasrulla has been appointed manager, programming communications for news, current affairs and Talk tv.
Renee Dupuis joins ctv’s programming communications department as co-ordinator, taking over for Anne Marie La Pointe who has been promoted to publicist for The Comedy Network. Dupuis moves over from ctv’s programming department.
* Martin Johnson, cfo of Sextant Entertainment Group, has resigned his position with the company. Sextant controller Patrick Brown has been appointed interim cfo, while the company looks for a replacement.
* Montreal-based CineGroupe has appointed Isabelle Marin to the post of director, international presales (excluding the u.s.) and Michele Dal Cin to the post of director, international sales, focusing on finished products.
Marin earlier held presales and coproduction positions with Pixcom and Megafun Prroductions. Dal Cin’s most recent position was in international sales with Canamedia. Both women report to Marie-Claude Beauchamp, executive vp development, production financing and distribution.
* Erica Benson has been appointed to the new role of director, original production, Showcase. Most recently Benson was a business analyst at the Canadian Television Fund – Licence Fee Program.
* Patrick O’Hara, one of the founding management team members of Global Television Network (Quebec), is moving on to become gm at ontv Hamilton.
Maureen Rogers, another founding exec of Global Quebec and former business manager, replaces O’Hara as gm of the station.
On the eastern front, Barry Saunders moves from general sales manager for the Atlantic region to gm, Global (Atlantic).
* After 12 years at ytv, executive producer Joanne Jackson has joined wtn as manager of independent production. Some of Jackson’s many achievements at the kids network include such programs as the YTV Achievement Awards, PJ Katie’s Farm, Today’s Parent Television and YTV Rocks.
* Carol Chestnut, vp, business and legal affairs for television production at Alliance Atlantis, will be joining Heenan Blaikie as part of its entertainment law group in Toronto, March 1, 2001. In July, she will relocate to the firm’s Vancouver office.
* cbc has named Rae Hull its new senior director, network programming. She will retain her current role as regional director of television for British Columbia and will remain based in Vancouver as she takes on her expanded responsibilities.
