Salter Street producer Paul ‘beanone’ Donovan has gone online with a written tribute to fans of sci-fi series Lexx, which faced uncertain prospects with the u.s. sci fi network until the net greenlit another season last month.
Support for the show, especially on the Internet, has been wildly enthusiastic, and 24 new episodes for season four will now be produced. Budget is about $1 million per ep.
Some quotations from the sci fi site: ‘This is so cool, this is so cool, long live Lexx, long live the Beans…’; ‘Let’s hear it for the Beans and the Gerbils! Bring on the exclamation marks!!!!!!’; ‘A big Texas Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaa! Life is damned good! Congrats to the Beans, talents, and support staff! And kudos to all the Lexxians who took the time to get involved in making one of our top wishes come true…Season 4!!!’
And finally, from the producer: ‘I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Lexxians around the world (especially in the u.s.) for the support you have given the show in the last weeks and months. It is very much appreciated and may well be what tipped the scale for renewal. I will now get to work and give the new season my best. Love and kisses. – Paul Donovan (code name ‘beanone’).’
Lexx airs on Space: The Imagination Station in Canada. *
