Look launches streaming portal

Look Communications has launched what its calling ‘a cutting-edge vertical portal,’ Looktvi.com, equipped with industry-specific search capabilities, navigational tools and special features designed to support streaming audio and video content.

‘Developing Canada’s first streaming portal is a logical next step for us,’ says Look president and ceo David Parkes. ‘Portals are currently the most valuable real estate on the Internet.’

While traditional text portals offer a limited amount of streaming content, Looktvi.com searches and delivers only audio and video streaming content, providing the platform and functionality to showcase more than 200 Web properties from Canada and around the world.

The new portal has agreements with a number of content providers including: Global TV New Media (breaking news/weather/sports); StreamSearch, a leading distributor of playable Internet content; and Workdaytv, which delivers a live, wireless Internet television station that provides online users interactive access to original content for news and finances, including live-market updates every 10 minutes. *
