Egoyan starts spot career

Academy Award nominee Atom Egoyan, one of Canada’s foremost long-form directors, has accepted his first commercial directing job. Represented by Imported Artists, Egoyan is helming a two-day PricewaterhouseCoopers shoot in Toronto. The 30-second spot is out of u.s. agency Hill Holliday and will air exclusively in the States.

Egoyan is internationally renowned for his feature work, including The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica and Felicia’s Journey. His decision to enter the world of commercial directing further accentuates the trend of directors crossing back and forth between long-form and spot production.

At press time, Marni Luftspring, director of sales and marketing for Imported, said the shoot was planned for the first week in August. *
