One aspiring filmmaker or filmmaking team will be awarded $6,000 at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, as the Rogers Industry Centre presents Telefilm Canada Pitch This!
The new initiative, taking place on Sept. 12, will give six Canadian filmmakers six minutes to present their feature film ideas to a group of international filmmakers, which will include the Rogers Industry Centre’s international advisory committee (Tony Cianciotta, Nic Fichman, Karen Franklin, Roger Frappier, Dave Kehr, Charlotte Mickie, Adam Ostry, Bingham Ray and Carole Scotta) and up to 300 ric delegates.
The $6,000 award is intended for travel and to help the winner pursue the project at a major international festival or forum.
A Canadian selection committee composed of distributors, producers and film execs will shortlist 12 projects. Deadline for applications is July 7. tiff runs Sept. 7 -16.
