Montreal: An expanded Radio-Canada consortium, which now includes Tele-Quebec, is vying with a proposal from Bravo! and partner Astral Media for a national French-language arts specialty channel.
src has filed a significantly revised licence application with the crtc.
The application for Tele des Arts (the former Reseau des Arts) includes an ownership group composed of src (37%), BCE Media (16%) and France’s La Sept arte (15%), and new two partners, public broadcaster Tele-Quebec (25%) and festival and music program producer L’Equipe Spectra (7%).
Tele-Quebec had strongly opposed the original Reseau des Arts application, denied by the crtc. On Feb. 1, the commission issued a new call for applications, following a federal cabinet request to review the feasibility of a new French-track arts service.
Astral has a minority 30% equity share in Bravo!’s arts channel proposal.
