* AAC Kids, the new youth programming arm of Alliance Atlantis Communications, has named Alan Gregg as its new director of development. Gregg’s first projects will include overseeing productions such as Yvon of the Yukon and Old Tom. Gregg was most recently a production executive at YTV Canada and worked on such shows as The Worst Witch and Mona the Vampire.

* Karen Franklin has been named director of Ontario operations, Telefilm Canada. The former director of Telefilm’s television unit in Toronto, Franklin replaces Bill House, who recently left the corporation after 12 years.

* Grant Ross has been named director of acquisitions at Distraction Formats. Paris-based Ross is also in charge of sales in France, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Distraction also announced Bettina Brinkman is the new sales executive for Germany, one of the company’s most important territories.

* Michael Spencer has rejoined Film Finances Canada as chairman emeritus. Spencer, who in his long career has served as the executive director of the Canadian Film Development Corporation (now Telefilm Canada), founded Film Finances Canada, a completion bond company, in the early 1980s.

The highly awarded and decorated Spencer is a member of the Order of Canada.
